To promote the creation and distribution of high-quality radio, television, and online audiovisual content, the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) recently issued and implemented the Several Measures to Further Enrich TV Broadcast Content and Promote the Supply of Radio and Television Audiovisual Programs, based on extensive consultations. The Measures emphasize strengthening content development through multiple approaches to enhance the supply of premium radio and television audiovisual content. Key initiatives include: Implementing a “Content Renewal Plan” to foster innovation in programming; Revising management policies, such as regulations on episode counts for TV series and intervals between seasonal broadcasts; Improving the content review process for television dramas by optimizing mechanisms and increasing efficiency; Boosting the production, broadcasting, and promotion of ultra-high-definition programs; Enhancing the creation of high-quality documentaries and animations; Encouraging and supporting the broadcast of outstanding mini-dramas on television; Promoting the introduction and broadcasting of excellent international programs.

Simultaneously, efforts will be made to strengthen the development of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks and enhance the protection of program copyrights. The NRTA will organize, guide, and coordinate with provincial-level radio and television bureaus, broadcasters, production agencies, online audiovisual platforms, the China Federation of Radio and Television Societies, the China Television Drama Production Industry Association, the China Netcasting Services Association, and other relevant entities to implement the Measures. The goal is to achieve more high-quality content, broader dissemination, and a better viewing environment, ultimately fulfilling the public’s spiritual and cultural needs.
