On July 16, 2025, Nicholas M. Xie, Chairman and Partner of Shanghai Harmony Supreme Group, was invited to join the Zhejiang Merchants Investment Research Association on a two-day deep inspection and project matching activity in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. The visit received high-level attention and warm reception from the prefectural party committee and government. Both sides engaged in practical and efficient discussions on specific cooperation projects focusing on digital economy, artificial intelligence, and cultural-tourism integration, building a solid bridge connecting Zhejiang's capital and technology with Xiangxi’s superior resources to open new development opportunities.
On the morning of July 16, the research association delegation first arrived at Huayuan County, where County Magistrate Zhang Kekuan led the county government leadership and heads of relevant functional departments in a symposium. In-depth discussions were held regarding alignment between the county's industrial development plans and investment opportunities for Zhejiang businesses. That afternoon, the team proceeded to Baojing County for a meeting with County Party Secretary Zhou Jianwu and other key county leaders. Both sides conducted frank and practical communication regarding the feasibility of specific project implementations and related support policies.
On July 17, Liu Tao, Secretary of the Xiangxi Prefectural Party Committee, met with the delegation. Also present were Prefectural Party Committee Secretary-General Xiang Bangwei, along with directors of the Prefectural Development and Reform Commission (Tian Yuan), Commerce Bureau (Yang Ling), Culture-Tourism Radio-Television Bureau (Peng Tao), and Data Bureau (Liao Zhaojun), among other relevant departments. Prefectural leaders extended a warm welcome to the research association's return visit and elaborated in detail on Xiangxi’s “One Transformation Driving Three Modernizations” strategy and the development goals of its “1+5+X Modern Industrial System.”
The research association and accompanying Zhejiang business representatives expressed strong appreciation for Xiangxi’s clear development path and superior business environment, reaffirming their firm confidence in deepening cooperation and pursuing mutual development.
During the symposium, both sides explored cooperation projects highly aligned with Xiangxi’s development needs and leveraging the unique advantages of Zhejiang businesses: AI Computing Center Cluster Construction: Plans are underway to pool Zhejiang resources to invest in green, intelligent computing infrastructure, providing a solid "digital foundation" for participation in future industries like AI and energy storage in Xiangxi and empowering the regional digital economy. AI-Enabled Operation Center: Aims to introduce leading AI technologies and solutions from Zhejiang businesses to jointly build an innovation platform, enabling the intelligent upgrade of Xiangxi's characteristic industries and opening broad markets for Zhejiang technologies. Film/Short Drama Cultural-Tourism Town: Leveraging Xiangxi's profound cultural heritage, the association proposed creating an integrated cultural-tourism project combining script incubation, digital production, and immersive experiences, actively responding to the prefecture's policy of promoting the creative transformation of traditional culture. Local Bao Digital Service Platform: Plans involve building a smart platform integrating government affairs, commerce, and community services to enhance livelihood services and rural revitalization in Xiangxi, creating practical scenarios for Zhejiang businesses to participate in smart city construction. Payment Data Value Mining: Exploring the use of Zhejiang's strengths in data to help optimize Xiangxi's commercial ecosystem and enable precise policy implementation, expanding new spaces for Zhejiang business services.
The research association introduced the planning concepts, business models, and core competitiveness of the various industrial projects and the accompanying Zhejiang business team. Leaders at all levels in Xiangxi highly appraised and responded positively to the project proposals, introducing local industrial policies, factor guarantees, and "green channels" for project implementation, while also offering operational guidance on cooperation mechanisms and risk sharing.
Through this high-level, efficient inspection and matching activity combined with in-depth exchanges, the research association further clarified development opportunities for Zhejiang businesses in Xiangxi's key industries and identified clear pathways for project implementation. Follow-up efforts will actively synthesize the results of this inspection, promote relevant project connections, and facilitate synergistic development between Zhejiang businesses and Xiangxi Prefecture, pioneering a new phase of win-win regional collaboration.
